Productivity Pointer for November 23, 2009

This has been a very tough year.
–  Bernard Madoff

I don’t know if Madoff really said this, but I’m sure he’s thought about it a time or two.  And he would be right, it has been a difficult year for many of us.

This week in the US we are taking some quiet time to celebrate Thanksgiving to give thanks for what we have. Use this as an opportunity to reflect on the good things that have happened in your life and/or career.

If your employer (assuming you have one) is preparing for annual performance reviews, this is a good time to make a list of your accomplishments.  When times are tough we tend to dwell on the negatives and forget about the positives.  So take a few minutes in a quiet place write a list of at least three positive contributions you made each month during this year.

This will come in very handy when it’s time for your evaluation.

Happy Thanksgiving!
